... Vivekananda, the apotheosis

Yesterday, January 12, was celebrated as National Youth Day all over India.

Every year the day is commemorated in the august name of Swami Vivekananda – the spiritual predecessor of modern India. In 1984, Indian Government declared the 12th of the first month in the Gregorian calendar as National Youth Day when they felt to inculcate the sublime ideals of the philosophers' philosopher into the young minds. It is also to be ascertained that the youths should burn themselves with the ideals for the 353 days to arrive. The day has been solemnized, precisely, therefore.

Youth is the state of early maturity in a life of Homo sapiens. Human life is composed of two survivals – one is biological and the other, psychological. And in two cases, the first-mentioned survival has nothing to be given so much importance if we consider that any human survives only by means of psychological maturation. Survival is strongly associated with psyche. The moment one loses the strength to think, one ceases to exist.

Today, politics has gone wild. Student unrest takes wing even with the pettiest issue centring around college election or seeking admission. The youths are bearing leaden-eyed despair. Everywhere, there is a tendency to use the youthful vigour for a mean cause.

When one looks at the picture of Swamiji, one would find divine fire in his religious eyes, meditative face and impregnable intuition. And this fire belongs only to the youth. Fire in them is crushed by the bite of senescence.

Vivekananda's glorious utterance – “We are responsible for what we are, and whatever we wish ourselves to be, we have the power to make ourselves. If what we are now has been the result of our own past actions, it certainly follows that whatever we wish to be in future can be produced by our present actions; so we have to know how to act.” – evokes a spiritual truth as well as true spirit, and fertilizes iron determination in us.

His blessings are always with the youth as every youth, according to me, is born with the burning spirit of Vivekananda. Let us think and act today, since we are unborn tomorrow and since nothing is impossible for the soul.

And after all, we have to enjoy a solely soulful survival.

Sometimes it feels like your idea of a "mean cause" is showing itself all over the world.

@Geeta Singh: Thanks for the suggestion. Nobody told it before.

Since I am on Linux platform, I face no problem with the font. I saw my blog from a Windows platform, it really looked awful.

Therefore, I've changed it.

You are requested to have a look at the font now.
