Happy Bengali New Year... to Nandigram

I don't know how many of my respected followers know that today is one of the proudest days in our life. Being a Bengali, I share my feelings with my friends in my mother tongue, Bengali. I mean to say, it's another rolling of the Bengali calendar. Today is "Poyla Baisakh" (1 Baisakh) - the first daybreak of a new Bengali year, 1416. Let me spread the fragrance of 'maachher jhol' (fish-curry) and 'dahi' (curd) beyond borders and sprinkle colours, warmth, cooperation of life and living. "Subho Nababarsha" (Happy New Year) to all of them.

I don't know how many of my respected followers know that there is a village called Nandigram, where, on 14 March 2007, a very open-minded band of cadres went into Nandigram and tore apart the entrails, as all cadres, of all parties, do.

There lived a number of my brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers. They were cut through with bullets, brutally chopped off, thrown beheaded to river. The corpses ballooned up on the surface of river water, the chopped-off were buried deep under the soil. They were lynched, irrespective of class and creed, region and religion, woman and child. I can't say exactly the number of death-toll. Only can I say, there were many farmers who died young using the age-old method of being hanged with a rope.

The State Government...

only to acquire the land...
only to stir an air of industrialization...
in order to show charisma before the General Elections 2009.

The fanatic dictators and murderers ... with a view to licking the boot of some economic roosters.

"Subho Nababarsha" (Happy New Year) to all and sundry, especially to those, who lost their lives in the Nandigram carnage, who fought against the brutality of the State Government, who fought to live.

Nandigram was to be sold to the hands of a few pets of staying-behind-the-screen Economic Hit Men, and that's why, the Chief Minister, a translator of Mayakovsky, crossed his ministerial limit to lick the dropping blood. He forgot he was the representative of the mass... a mouthpiece of the common.

My dear Nandigram, I am ashamed of wishing you Subho Nababarsha...

I didn't know the history of brutality in Nandigram.

Happy Bengali New Year to you and yours. I love the food symbolism that goes with the feast.

i am sorry to say that you are not portraying the actual picture of nandigram. have you ever been there specially after the violence? perhaps, not. you are reading newspapers, watching TVs, giving in to rumors, listening to the comments of so called "sushil samaj" and your mind is getting filled up with hatred for the govt. and its people. please try to recognize the reality. the opposition leader does know nothing but spreading the rumor in "right time". she does not respect other important individual, her activity is so whimsical, her language is so crude and on top of that, she has been getting financial help to spread violence in order to get the WB govt. down by any means. please watch it out!

Thank you Mukhi for making me aware of one such thing that I hardly believe:

"... the opposition leader does know nothing but spreading the rumor in "right time". she does not respect other important individual, her activity is so whimsical, her language is so crude..."

I may add to it...
"... the opposition leader of the opposition leader does know nothing but "an eye for an eye" theory ("they have been paid back by their own coins") in "right time". He does not respect the "sushil samaj". He is not whimsical at all, his language can make hell of any situation..."

Your writing may blaze up a sheer irritation in a TMC supporter. However, being a supporter of non-violence, I can only assert, when the common of Nandigram died, rather say, were killed, tears swelled in my eyes. Death of a citizen is a disgrace to any government, any nation. I think, you are, at this point, standing just before or behind me.
