... the street dog

I like my wounds and wounded life, which is good and partly rife
In the air I sail, I wag my tail with a sprint you can't revive

I lick my wounds and lick my dirt like a handsome shoeshine boy
Who looks at the relics of his childhood days and now, unpolished toy

I know you know I eke out a bow to crumbs of biscuits, thrown
I smell at the offer, thrown on the coffer, my head hungrily goes blown

I look for my mate, her never forget, and love her round the clock
By the seasonal turn, our desires burn, you laugh at our passionate lock

Once I see my foes break law and my freedom stakes in fright
I bark and growl and roar and howl and stir an awful fight

You woo and aah when I die alone when you wrap your face with cloth
Sorry, my friend, I am dead as death, I am sorry to be tardy and sloth

I know I am a dog, but I know you are all a force of leeches I fear
Who cry fight more, who cry blood more, who pass their time in tear

You shed no tears when a hamlet bleeds when a city of joy feels pain
I look at my body, so sloth and tardy, and lie like a lord of lane

Beautiful hymn to the lord of the lane, hound of the heaven and alpha figure of the earth. Dog is "God", not only in the reversal of letters but also in the true sense of the term. However, as an animal, dog seems to be less dangerous than man since the animal instinct appears to be present in a cruder form in the latter. What is natural and spontaneous in a dog, is intentional and pre-planned in a man. Dogs have their own society, yet they are not so treacherous or prompted by malign motives like their human counterparts. They can see, hear, cry, smell, feel, touch and consume ( no laws to limit their consumption). It is only the unconsciousness of their own self-existence that make them less vicious than man. A dog knows all, but can't tell. Inside a dog it's too dark to read. One who can read it, knows all.
